DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE

Focus Vision Media provides data visualization, virtual and augmented reality, video production, technology integration, planning and visual strategy as well as scientific and research support and analysis tools.

Set in Thomas Edison’s Menlo Park Laboratory, FOCUS designed and created all content for a fully immersive Virtual Experience for Arizona State University’s Prep Digital students. Students learn about Thomas Edison’s early life, his inventions, and his contemporaries as they conduct hands-on experiments and search for answers to questions. Using xAPI, all data is collected and linked to each student for grading purposes.

Italian Shadows is a digital publication written by Brown University Professor of Italian Studies, Massimo Riva. Italian Shadows is an archaeological exploration of virtual reality revolving around eight optical-enhancing devices from the 18th and 19th centuries. Working closely with Brown Digital Publications, FOCUS created and designed interactive simulations of each device: Mondo Nuovo Painting, Mondo Nuovo Device, Camera Obscura, Polemoscope, Magic Lantern, Belzoni’s Virtual Tomb, Moving Panorama, and Stereoscope.

SIMULATION / TESTING ENVIRONMENTS

Working closely with Tufts University’s Center for Applied Brain & Cognitive Sciences, FOCUS developed training scenarios to study and improve cognitive abilities of U.S. Army Soldiers.  Criterial scenarios involve studying various pieces of information including city maps, people, camouflage patterns, graffiti markings, and vehicles. After the criterial portion of the test is complete, the test subjects are placed into a Virtual 3D Environment of the same city map that they studied. A series of tasks are completed and all testing data is captured for evaluation.

VIRTUAL REALITY TESTBED

"What we do at the core is to emulate or create models that really represent what humans and animals are already doing in reality."

The Natick Soldier Research, Development, and Engineering Center, along with scientists and engineers at the Center for Applied Brain and Cognitive Sciences are developing an urban, Scenario-Based Virtual Reality Testbed for objectively quantifying the impact of next-generation situation awareness technologies on Soldier and Small Team mission performance.

FOCUS produced virtual reality experiences for the U.S. Marine Corps to demonstrate how Additive Manufacturing (AM) applications could be used in 4 unique scenarios and 3 distinct future timeframes. The VR applications were developed to each have a detailed page and corresponding illustration. FOCUS closely worked with the stakeholders to design, test and produce the final working applications.

U.S. MARINE CORPS

FOCUS created a website framework container to organize and showcase NAEMO’s various foundational library assets. The website’s architecture was designed for easy accessibility and comprehension by a highly varied user base. The website campaign’s messaging explained both the Navy’s requirements to conduct at-sea sonar/weapons testing and showcase its commitment to marine species protection.

NAEMO

FOCUS has provided a wide range of creative and technology services to the U.S. Army through the NSRDEC soldier research labs. Working with the lead strategy and innovation teams tasked with improving the technologies designed to protect and support the soldier, FOCUS has aggregated and integrated dozens of mission and task specific research and development projects.

SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY DEMONSTRATOR

HAZARD HOUSE

FOCUS designed and developed a head-mounted, Virtual Reality experience for MetLife. The user explored a house to identify various hazards that might pose a serious risk. Hazards included overloaded circuits, clogged dryer vents, and oily rags.

REEBOK INNOVATION

FOCUS has created dozens of media products for Reebok, including video, digital product visualization, and simulation. We have helped to bridge communication gaps between design, product development, and sales, and also supported large scale demonstrations and testing programs.

MULTI-DOMAIN OPERATIONS

“Multi-Domain Operations," is the Army’s Strategic Level concept for operating on an increasingly complex and lethal battlefield, across five contested domains: space, cyberspace, air, maritime, and land. "MDO emphasizes the convergence of cross-domain capabilities to prevail in competition; to penetrate stand-off capabilities, disintegrate area denial systems, exploit freedom of maneuver, and to and force the return to competition and set conditions for long- term deterrence.”
